University of Cambridge PhD - Academic Tutoring
I received my BA in Natural Sciences and my PhD in Biochemistry (specializing in molecular neurobiology) for the University of Cambridge, UK. I spent my PhD researching the neurobiology of autism and attempting to ascertain when changes in brain development occur in individuals with autism.
I left research science to continue being a full-time tutor to children ages 6-18 of varying abilities. I have been tutoring for four years and tutor subjects ranging from English Language and Literature (Reading), Psychology, Math, History, Organic Chemistry and Biology, Genetics and Molecular Biology. I currently teach several students for AP Biology and I also tutor students in SAT/ACT prep.
Several of my former and current students have special educational needs and I have a special interest in tutoring this group. As with all my students I develop strategies that draw upon their individual differences to help them receive the most out of our tutorial sessions.
As an extra benefit, I am available by email for my students outside of our arranged tutorial time because I think it is important that students know there is someone to help them if they become stuck on a problem.
My rates typically begin at $70 per hour, depending on the needs of your child.
