I consult with college applicants to generate essay topics and hone the essays themselves until they are clear, compelling and indicative of the student's breadth of achievement and character.  I also work on crafting and polishing the application verbiage.  I work in person or online.  Student and parent references available upon request! 

By day, I’m a high school AP and Honors English teacher in Walnut Creek and have served three consecutive years as an instructional coach for our staff.  I have a doctorate in English Education from Columbia University, and I have taught in both Columbia and USF’s graduate schools of education. 

I absolutely love working with college applicants, helping them craft and perfect their essays and, in the process of doing so, further developing their writing skills and building their confidence as they consider their post-high school future.  For applicants seeking advising beyond just essays and application verbiage (such as college list creation), I work closely with one of the Bay Area’s leading college advisors, who offers a single preliminary advising session for the purpose of creating the student’s college list, after which the applicant comes to me for essay support.  I accept 20 students per application “season” and accept new clients between May and August.
