I wanted to recommend the Spanish immersion program that our three year old daughter attends. It's part of a family day care, where she gets structured learning from a certified teacher every morning. The environment is stimulating, the student-teacher ratio is really low, the teachers are patient and nurturing, and there's great space for the kids to learn and work - including a newly redone art room. We had sent our daughter to a much larger school that also had great teachers, but less personal attention and an onerous administration. In this smaller, more personal environment our daughter has really thrived. Most important, her Spanish is fantastic, and she's ready to help translate for me on our trip to Spain! My daughter is going to start at Brittany Nuno-Pelayo's Family Daycare at the end of September and I'm so excited that I found this daycare! It's located only about two blocks from Piedmont Avenue and right off Broadway.

I felt so comfortable being there and felt so at ease with Brittany and her mom, Marilyn. The kids look so happy and were all getting along.

Food is provided (breakfasts/lunch/snacks) and they cook mostly organic food and serve organic milk. They don't serve juice or sugary things. Both of those aspects are important to me!

It's a play-based environment yet there is some structure. Each day they sing songs, read books, play outside, do art, and participate in other activities throughout the day.

It's a small group so the kids get a lot of sweet attention. Right now there are spots for a few other children in the early 2's.

My daughter has attended Brittany's House Day Care for over a year (4months to 17 months). It has been the most wonderful experience any new parent could ask for. Brittany and Marilyn treat each child like their own. They give daily updates about my child and help me problem solve as needed. Food is served and is very healthy and home made. And the home is beautiful and well kept. I highly recommend Brittany's House. You will love it!

Brittany Nuno-Pelayo runs a play-based family daycare service in the Piedmont Ave area of Oakland. She, along with two other providers, have been caring for infants and toddlers for over a decade. Her daycare service is CA-licensed and the adult-child ratio is low enough to ensure that every child is given the proper care and attention. Our two sons have been with Brittany since they were infants. Brittany has provided them with a very happy and nurturing environment. We couldn't ask for a better caregiver than her. Brittany Nuno-Pelayo's home-based daycare has a small number of children lovingly cared for by Brittany, her mother, and assistant Sally, all of whom are Trustline and CPR-certified. A loving environment for babies. It is also great preparation for toddlers who will be attending preschool soon. They provide breakfast, lunch, and a snack. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7am to 6pm. openings for:
* 2+years old MWF available now
* 18months+ Full Time starting in October

Parents, if you are looking for a wonderful daycare for your little one, please consider this one. Brittany Nuno-Pelayo and her mother, Marilyn, run a home-based family daycare just off Piedmont Ave. in Oakland that provides a loving, comfortable, stimulating and safe environment for infants and toddlers. My 20-month-old has been there for 4 months and loves it. His development and social skills have taken off since he started attending, and we are impressed by and grateful for the excellent care he is receiving. In addition to the indoor playroom, there is a large outdoor play area with grass, sand and play equipment. The hours are convenient for working parents - 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is also a monthly Date Night where they offer evening babysitting at a very reasonable rate.
