Sept 2007Hello, If anyone is looking for a daycare, the home-based daycare we use in Oakland's Dimond district, Mabi's Garden, has a couple of openings. She's located on Lincoln Ave across from the Head Royce school, cross street Alida. Mabi can take infants as young as 3 months. Our baby is 8 months old and has been there since he was 3 months. It's a small place, with just one other woman working there, and maximum is 8 children. It's no-frills, not a whole lot of extra curricular activities (so to speak), and the hours are somewhat limited, 8:00-5:00. But it's clean, calm, and safe with lots of toys to play with and our baby always looks happy when we drop him off and pick him up. There is also a patio and yard at the back - fun for the kids to hang out. Her prices are also reasonable. Good luck and hope this helps. Contact: Mabi Llosa, 510-530-8353

My daughter's daycare has full and part time openings for
toddlers 15 months or older. What I like about this small
family daycare is that it's a warm, bright, calm, TV free
environment. The children spend time outside and inside
and have space to move around and play. My daughter had
just hit a major separation anxiety phase when we began
sending her to Mabi's Garden and I appreciated Mabi and
her assistant's patient and caring attitude towards our
daughter. Now, our daughter jumps into their arms and is
always happy to go. It's easy to go to work knowing she's
happy and playing all day. Feel free to contact me for
Mabi's information or to answer any questions you might
have. Mabi's Garden is located near Head Royce School.

My daycare has openings for infants. Our daughter (now 1 year old) has been
with Mabi for a few months and we have been very satisfied with the care she is
receiving. Mabi offers a clean, quiet refuge for babies and she and her assistant,
Jesse, are very loving to them. She is reliable and professional and offers us
peace of mind while our daughter is there. Her hours are 8am - 5pm. You can
contact me by email for more information or call Mabi for an appointment. Her
number is 510-530-8353.

My 2.5 year old son has blossomed at Mabi's Garden. When we began, he was given as much time as he needed to adapt, which helped him trust being in group care & away from Mom. I found this offering unique - none of the other good daycare's I'd interviewed were sensitive to a child's transition to a new environment. In 2 weeks, my son grew confident in his newfound independence & began asking to go to Mabi's on the weekends!
Mabi & Jessie are wonderful with the children - providing healthy meals, a fun colorful setting in a warm home environment with ample sunlight, and just enough individual attention to ea child so that he/she feels comfortable to explore and learn to play w/ other children. Mabi, a former preschool teacher, is quite adept at reading each child's readiness to master new tasks. She uses a positive ''discipline'' style, instilling compassion & forethought instead of withdrawal/timeouts when a child acts out. Gentle but firm.
Additionally, 2 circle times ea day - 1 in Spanish. Healthy snacks. Music & dance are also incorporated. This is truly one of the better daycares in Oakland. Contact: Mabi's Garden, 510.530.8353

I am writing to recommend my daughters' child care provider,
Mabi Llosa. She has runs a small, 4- child daycare out of
her home, called ''Mabi's Garden.'' It is a great group of
kids there; she is loving and caring and flexible and my
daughters LOVE it there. Mabi and her assistant Jesse are
loving, caring and very attentive to the kids. The house is
cozy and well-equipped. There is a grassy outside area, a
big covered porch (for play outside even in bad weather),
and lots of good toys and books.
Hours are from 8-5, but can be flexible. She is certified,
knows infant CPR. She takes kids under the age of 3. Right
across the street from Head Royce School on Lincoln off
Highway 13. Down the street from the Mormon Temple.
Please call her for more information.

My two year old son attends a wonderful home-based daycare that has a few full or part-time openings. Mabi's Garden is great place for infants, babies and toddlers. Going to Mabi's is more like dropping my son off at a trusted relative's house rather than a daycare center. My son has always felt at home there, especially since there are plenty of cozy nooks for him to have some quiet time with books when he wants it. Her contact information is:

My wonderful day care provider has some current openings. Her name is Mabi Llosa and her home (''Mabi's Garden'') is on Lincoln Ave, directly across from Head Royce School. She has one full time slot, and space for more kids on Mon, Tues, & Fridays-however please call her for details on available days. Infant or toddlers are fine.
I cannot recommend her highly enough. Mabi is so loving
and caring with the kids. My daughter gets lots of
attention, quiet naps and meals, there are tons of toys, a
back yard and safe covered deck so they can play outside
on rainy days. Only 4 kids total. Mabi calls me (unasked!)
to let me know how she's doing and gives me detailed notes
at the end of the day. And to boot, she is affordable!
Please call her! Mabi Llosa (pronouced Mah-bee).

If this matters...her English is perfect, too.
