About the Program:

Annie’s Family Child Care has been open in the Adams Point area for over seven years. We currently serve children ages two through five.  We build on the needs and interests of each child while inspiring health, creating community, and preparing children for kindergarten. We facilitate this with thematic play based curriculum, homemade vegetarian organic food, physical education, music classes, parent involvement, and social gatherings. We are open Monday through Friday from 8AM-5:30PM We are now wait listing families for summer/fall 2016.  Please email us now if you are interested in being placed on the wait list.

Heaven on earth. So sad that Annie is closing her preschool but so very glad we got to be a part of it for a while!

April 2014

Annie's Family Childcare has been a highlight of raising my two daughters in Oakland. Annie has been a highly responsible, loving, and indispensable member of my kids' lives for three years.

There are three qualities that set Annie apart: 1) A positive & loving atmosphere; 2) Annie's calm & loving demeanor; 3) Clear, direct & honest communication. Annie's home is truly unique & inviting with a magical play area in the backyard and an atmosphere of exploration and nurturing. At Annie's, my kids have learned to tend the garden, use the toilet, help cook, read, and navigate early social relationships. Most impressively, Annie harnesses kids' natural curiosity and these tasks are experienced as a joy. When the kids began pretending to be a wolf pack, Annie created lessons about wolves and soon the kids were reading about wolves, singing wolf songs, and prattling on in the car about things like "nocturnal carnivores."

As a nutritionist, I am also impressed by the quality of the food and the level of physical activity. Inside, the kitchen smells of Annie's vegetarian meals; outside, the kids play until exhausted. Annie's home is a healthy one.

I recommend Annie in the strongest possible terms. She currently has full-time and part-time openings.

Re: Do you love your day care?
We love our daycare - I would highly recommend Annie's Family Child Care (Whole Foods/Grand Lake area). She offers a small home based daycare that is very nurturing and fun (sometimes my little one doesn't want to leave). There are parent events each month for the parents to get to know each other. She provides nutritious meals throughout the day as well as scheduled activities (arts & crafts, yoga/exercise movement, naps, story time, and garden/outdoor play). I am so glad that we found her! I am sure you would be able to drop by and spend time with your little one during the day as well. Dec 2010

In June 2010, I stumbled across an ad for ''Annie's Family Daycare.'' I was immediately drawn to the variety of activities, healthy foods offerings, and beautiful pictures of what I assumed to be a local park that she and her daycare children frequented. Upon visiting her home, I was thrilled to discover that the ''park'' was Annie's backyard.

I observed the manner in which Annie lovingly interacted with the children and struck a delicate balance between free-playtime and structured learning activities and knew that this was the place for my then - 18-month old daughter. Fortunately, my daughter agreed with my decision and transitioned well into her new environment. Six months later, she continues to thrive with Annie and enjoys everything from painting to picking fresh basil to help make Annie's signature Pesto Pasta (yum!!!).

Needless to say, we are thrilled to have found Annie's Family Daycare. My husband, daughter, and I highly recommend her! bb

Spet 2010

I have a strong recommendation for anyone looking for full-time child care in the Grand/Lake area of Oakland for their toddler (ideally ages 2-5). Annie's Family Child Care is a phenomenal family daycare center, where the children receive a great combination of love, attention, support, creative time, and an age-appropriate educational curriculum. My older son, age 3.5, has attended the center since October of 2008, and we've been thrilled with Annie herself, her facility (excellent space both inside and out), and the other families. If you'd like to contact Annie directly to inquire, her email address is annieschildcare [at] yahoo.com. If you have questions for a current parent, feel free to email me. ---Happy parent of Annie's Family Child Care pupil.
