I am looking for recommendations to remodel our 1920s house from a 3 bedroom + 1 bath to 4 bedroom and 2+ baths, with hopefully a family room etc. It is going to be a large-ish project with updates to the whole house (or maybe even build from scratch).

I have one quote from a general contractor, but the estimated price was a shock to me (2.5m+). My questions are:

1. Is this price reasonable for the kind of project I am interested in? I feel that at this point, I can try to sell my existing house and buy a new one.
2. Please recommend contractors for such a project.
