Functional Orthodontia for 4.5 and 7.5 yo?

I have a two-part question:

My 4.5 yo son has a slight posterior tongue tie and a high, elongated palate. He has a speech impediment and troubles with self-regulation, and his speech therapist recommended we get him assessed by an orthodontist for possible airway expansion. My 7.5 daughter also has a high palate and speech impediment. Lately she has been night waking; I can hear her snore sometimes, and she often wakes up with dried saliva around her mouth (indicating open mouth breathing). I'm seeking advice on pros/cons between the various treatment options out there (ALF, croyats, removable retainer) and anything else I should know about when/why to start treatment. If you have any suggestions of practitioners, I welcome that, too. thank you!
