California native bentgrass lawn sample/advice?

Hi all—Does anyone have a California native bentgrass (Agrostis pallens) lawn they’d be willing to show us, and/or can anyone point me in the direction of a local nursery/farm that has sample plots?? I’m looking specifically at the Delta Bluegrass “Native Bentgrass” sod (not the Mow-Free fescue mix, which doesn’t seem to hold up to full sun or foot traffic very well). The native bentgrass sounds great on paper, but I would love to actually see and touch the stuff before committing!

Would also really appreciate thoughts if anyone has experience maintaining this kind of lawn in Berkeley. Has it done pretty well? Anything you would change or do differently?

As context, we’d love a modest (~200 sq ft) grassy “landing pad” in our backyard for your average kids-running-around / occasional picnics / lounging type activities. I’ve gone down quite a rabbit hole of options over the past two years, and we’re finally at a point in our DIY backyard reno to prep for a lawn area. Native bentgrass seems to come out on top, in theory. (I’m not a fan of the look and feel of a whole expanse of Kurapia, which is a bummer for me because many people seem to like it. Also hoping to avoid any options that will attract too many bees to be able to relax—we’ll have other native plants and pollinators for that, just don’t want the kids constantly sitting on bees.)

Thanks so much!
