Berkeley Rose Waldorf School: Come Tour Our School Virtually
Join us on Fridays, February 25 or March 12 at 9 am for a virtual tour of Berkeley Rose Waldorf School, hosted on Zoom.
Learn about our Nursery through Eighth grade programs: our play-based nursery and two-year kindergarten programs which center around gentle activities and vigorous outdoor time; the way reading is taught through oral stories, and why we eschew media exposure in the early years; our rigorous math program with our math specialist who begins working with fourth grade and up; the way artwork is integrated into the learning and assimilation of every academic subject; our Main Lesson and why subjects are taught in blocks.
You will hear about the history and pedagogy of Waldorf Education®, and why its goal to cause a better planet for all is more relevant now even than in the war-torn Europe which birthed it. And importantly, you'll hear about the work inside the Waldorf movement to examine our biases, replacing or adding to Euro-focused literature and folk tales with work that more accurately reflects the community and the wide and diverse world our students are taught to honor and respect.
You'll get a chance to see our classrooms and students in action though some short video presentations, a hear from our Director and our Faculty Chair, with plenty of time for your questions.
