Scientific Adventures for Girls (SAfG) is looking for a part-time (16 - 20 hrs/week) Program Assistant to work at our Berkeley offices, located in the beautiful Fantasy Studios Building surrounded by great cafes and restaurants.  This is an in-person position and the majority of work needs to be done on-site. We follow all COVID protocols.  Hours are flexible with very occasional after school and evening hours needed. 

SALARY RANGE: $20 - $24 (salary dependent on experience). This is an hourly, non-exempt post.  Salary bonus after 30 days of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:STEM Instructional Materials Management - 80%

  • Inventory current supplies of materials and determine need, place/track orders, shelf supplies, and regularly ensure materials are available.

  • Keep storage rooms and STEM supplies stored in office space clean, organized, and user friendly.  Organize work flow and office supply set-up in limited space.

  • Support de-kitting, cleaning and exchanging of materials

  • Assist relevant staff with volunteer recruitment, communication and coordination for STEM kitting.

  • Serve as support to staff for STEM kit assembly and distribution for events.

  • Pick up mail and packages from the mailroom and communicate with relevant staff about deliveries.

Substitute TA and Event Assistant - 20%

  • Serve as substitute teaching assistant when needed. Occasionally travel to school sites throughout the East Bay to work after school hours (2 - 6:00pm)

  • Occasionally assist (both in-person and virtually) with events and Family STEAM Nights when needed.

  • Perform other duties as related to events as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate Degree or higher

  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable vehicle to travel to school sites when needed

  • Able to lift 30 lbs

  • Reliable, detail oriented, personable and meticulous

  • Flexible with time and can pivot to work when needed

  • A multi-tasker and resourceful individual who can solve smaller problems independently and more complex ones with some assistance.
