Adventures in Bookmaking! (with Mia Waller, Ages 9-14)
Winter Break II December 28, 29, 30, 31 (1:00 - 2:15 p.m.)
Make Art Everyday! Four fantastic days of bookmaking await. We’ll cover everything from basic terms and paper handling to creating an abundance of book structures that can be used for journaling, gift giving, and creative expression. Let the adventure begin!
Day 1: Single & Multiple Sheet Superstructure (8 panel books, 16 panel books, Turkish Map Folds and Origami Spirals)
Day 2: Cascading Creations (Rainbow layer book, flag book)
Day 3: Coffee filters, paper bags & envelopes, oh my! (Creating text blocks with non-traditional materials)
Day 4: Awesome Accordions (Mini accordion book, non-adhesive accordion journal)
Materials List: scissors, glue stick, pencil, ruler, paperclips, 8.5x11" printer paper (approx 50 pieces) origami paper (any size between 5 - 10") rubber bands, string or yarn, drinking straws or wooden skewers, holepunch, stapler
Optional to supply: decorative paper, construction paper, rubber stamps, stickers, colored pencils, markers, paints.
SFArtsED will supply visual directions, specialty papers, precut book boards, precut text block paper and assorted embellishments
