Rocca Creative Mentoring: Rocca Creative Mentorship: Arts-based Support for Youth
Greetings! My name is Lyndsey Rocca. I am a Masters-level Expressive Arts Therapist and AMFT providing sliding-scale one-on-one creative mentorship services to youth and young adults ages 11-21. Creative mentorship offers an alternative to traditional therapy which centers creative process, mindfulness, and connection with nature as tools for helping young people find their own ways of creatively navigating life's challenges.
Topics we explore include depression and anxiety, grief and loss, change and transition, befriending difficult emotions, social / familial challenges, experiences of injustice, identity exploration, cultivation of self-love and belonging within one's community and the natural world. I believe that young people have so much internal wisdom, and my goal is provide a warm, free and open, nonjudgmental space for them to connect to that wisdom and learn to channel it towards a life they feel proud and excited about.
Due to COVID, all sessions are currently being held over Zoom. Some of the tools we use in our Zoom sessions include: visual art making (drawing, collage, clay molding, whatever you've got will do!), poetry and free writing, music and movement, somatic experiencing, visualization, mindfulness exercises, and more.
If your family is located within the Sonoma County area, I have also begun offering outdoor sessions, and 2-3 hour Trail Talk sessions on an ad hoc basis. I am fully vaccinated, and masks are required for all in-person meetings.
