Nathan Greene, PsyD: Surf Circle- Therapeutic Surfing Group
Do you have an adolescent male teenager who is suffering from social isolation, depression, irritability, or anxiety?
We currently have openings for Surf Circle, a therapeutic surf youth development program for adolescent boys co-facilitated by four licensed psychologists. We provide a support system for Bay Area middle and high school age boys (age 13-18) grounded in surf lessons and facilitated discussion on the beach. Through these mediums, we facilitate confidence, connection and personal growth.
At Surf Circle, we harnesses the power of the ocean to encourage growth and healing. Surfing is believed to facilitate a number of mental health benefits, including increasing one’s self-efficacy, reducing insomnia, and boosting concentration abilities. Teens who may not be interested in doing therapy or personal development are more likely to access support through surfing.
We work with teens seeking meaningful experiences and increased self-awareness. Many youth who join Surf Circle struggle with depression, anxiety, social isolation, and trauma. Others are just looking to connect with other teens and learn the skills of surfing. We are happy to speak with you and your adolescent to help determine if our approach is the right fit.
