Just because they are kids does not exclude them from participating in our Pie Day of March 14th.  In fact, we should teach them the magic of making the perfect crust and having a home made pie of both savory and sweet.  We will go through the process of "docking" and "blind baking" the crusts to make sure we get as much filling in as possible.

Each person will get their chance to create their own crust then we will tackle the hard part of deciding what to put into the pies.  Participants will have a choice of making the following:

Apple Pie- The classic double crusted version with the wonderful pleats or for the more advanced makers the challenging basket weave.

Lemon Meringue- Everyone has probably passed by the baking isle in the store and looked at the cans of artificially flavored filling.  Not us!  We will make fresh lemon curd and of course the fluffy meringue.

Chicken Pot Pie- On cold winter days there is little to compare the comfort of a pot pie.  Using chicken as our protein, we'll be able to get our sauce just the right consistency then topped with an egg glazed crust.

Ages 7+ recommended.  Paid parents may also attend.
