Firecracker Math: Math for Children in Grades K-11. In-person and Online
Firecracker Math offers group classes and private instruction on extracurricular math topics to kids in grades K-11. We spark children’s interest in math, deepen their knowledge, and further develop their aptitude and talent in math.
Winter-Spring Term starts the week of January 16, and Spring Term starts the week of March 18. We offer in-person and online weekly classes Monday – Friday. Grades: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-11 at our Berkeley, Lafayette, Oakland/Piedmont, and San Francisco locations, online and special courses, learning pods, private lessons, and test & contest preparation.
Test and Contest Preparation: Math Kangaroo Preparation Course (Grades 1-7) starts online on Friday, January 5, and in person on Monday, January 8, in Piedmont, CA. Children are divided into groups: Grades 1-2, 3-5, and 6-7. Students learn problem-solving strategies and techniques and logical reasoning skills and apply them while working on competition-style problems. Early test registration ends on 12/15. Students CAN opt out from taking the exam. The competition date is Thursday, March 21.
Special Courses: Algebra 1A Early Access (Grades 6-8): This course for middle schoolers covers the first term of a full-year Algebra 1 course in depth; Introduction to Calculus (Grades 7-10): Calculus course for beginners that focuses on mental experiments, concept exploration and discussions, and understanding of main ideas behind calculus; Coding for Math Problems (Grades 5-9): The students will explore fun and interesting math problems and write computer code to solve them. Students with no prior knowledge of computer programming are welcome.
