Firecracker Math: Algebra 1 Course for Grades 6-8
Algebra 1 - Early Access for Grades 6-8
The class covers the first term of a full-year Algebra 1 course in depth. The course will use the self-paced computer adaptive platform Math Academy (MathAcademy.com), with a workshop component to allow students to work on problems at their own pace, under instructor guidance.
The class meets at our Piedmont site, 400 Highland Avenue, once a week for 1.5 hours on Wednesdays and once a week for 1 hour online on Mondays. Winter term dates: December 6 - February 28, approximately 1 hour per week of homework is expected. Participants need to complete pre-algebra course or equivalent.

Instructor: Michael Malione: Michael has served the East Bay and Marin as an independent STEM enrichment tutor since 2015. In recent years, he's grown a clientele of elementary and middle school students, who come to him seeking greater challenge and more explicit instruction in their math studies. Michael's teaching philosophy aims to impart the clarity of understanding and enthusiasm in problem-solving that inspired his own childhood academic interests and pursuits. He concentrated on Chemistry & Physics at Harvard and earned his master's in Electrical Engineering at Stanford. His focus is STEM education and math education, particularly for K-12 students.
