Family Paths: RELATE - An Expressive Arts Group About Being Yourself

Summer & Holiday Camps

Our agency, Family Paths, is setting up a virtual Expressive Arts class for teens.  Expressive Arts uses creativity to unlock imagination, connection, and resilience. All forms of expression are welcome, including music, visual art, dance, writing, and drama. But you don’t have to be an artist, as most people who benefit from Expressive Arts do not identify as “artists”. Teens of varying backgrounds and identities are welcome to participate. YOU are welcome to participate and show up as you are, expressing your full self, and identifying in the many ways that make you a unique and special human being.

The group facilitator is Christy Booth, who is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) with experience and interests based at the intersections of creativity, sexuality, and power.  She offers a space characterized by confidentiality and acceptance and a collaborative relationship based on empathy, curiosity, and respect.

This group will be small, between 4-6 people, age 16-18 years old, and after the group starts, no new participants will be added. This group is all about giving and receiving. We’ll do that through simple creative activities and talking. You don’t have to talk a lot but other people in the group will be excited to get to know you. Share some of who you are while getting to know others. You might be surprised to find out that other people are thinking and feeling some of the same things you are.

Your spot in the group is held exclusively for you and your presence is an important part of the group journey. You are expected to attend Zoom group meetings. You are still responsible for the group fee, even if you miss a meeting.

Time and day: 3:00 - 4:30 pm Thursdays, July 16 - August 6 (4 weeks)     Location: Via Zoom

Fee:  Sliding scale sliding from $50 - $15 per session, based on ability to pay. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
