Drea’s Writing Services: Spring Writing Workshop for Teens!
Hi parents of teens!
I'm thrilled to be starting up a creative writing workshop for teens this spring. A one-month series, teens aged 14-17 will gather to work on the writing of their choice--poetry, short stories, songs, or graphic novel. The workshop is a space where they can have some structured time to write, share work with the group (if they wish to), and learn how to hone their craft. Each class will start with a piece I bring to class, which the group will read, or listen to, and then discuss. I aim to create a supportive, fun, and safe space in which students can tap into their authentic voice, get feedback (if they want it), and be in community with other young people who enjoy creating. The group will be limited to six students, so sign up soon (details below)!
A bit about me: I got my Masters in Writing from USF (with a focus on short fiction), taught English, History, and Psychology at Tilden Preparatory School for twelve years (where I was English Department Head for six), and am a singer-songwriter and musician. I am also a mother, a gardener, and a young-at-heart adult who is returning to school this fall to become a therapist so I can work with teenagers in a creative, therapeutic capacity.
I look forward to meeting your kids and helping them revel in their own creative expression!
