Announcing RIE Before Baby -- Fall 2023 sessions

RIE Before Baby is an introductory course for those expecting, waiting to adopt, or thinking about becoming a parent. Before Baby is designed to start you on your journey with confidence in yourself as a parent and trust in your baby’s unique ability to show you the way. They say that becoming a parent is the greatest job for which there is no training. You learn on the job. But you can be more prepared by better understanding infant needs, capabilities, and child development, and examining your own ideas about childrearing. RIE is a relationship-based and science-backed approach to infant-toddler care that can help you know what to expect and prioritize in those first months and years. You’ll build the foundation for your own parenting expertise and create a healthy, supportive relationship with your baby right from the start.

Over three evenings in a small group of expecting parents, Before Baby will show you how to establish healthy patterns from the beginning of life. We'll cover key topics, such as:

• Setting up the baby’s room -- gear you need and gear you don't need
• Sleep for baby and parents
• Diapering, feeding, bathing
• The science and practice of attachment
• What crying means and how to respond
• Movement development
• Language development
• “Quality” time together

September/October 2023 session:  Tuesdays, September 26, October 3, October 10, 2023, from 6:30-9 pm
