For Baby and Me: New Spring Classes for Toddlers, Babies and Infants

Kids' Classes, Groups, Teams & Tutors
City:
Berkeley
Ages:
Babies, Toddlers

Would you like to get out with your baby to a play group where babies can be themselves and play independently and with others, while you sit back, observe, and enjoy what they are working on -- all without judgment?

Would you like to deepen your understanding of your young child's development, gain new skills and ideas to help you with everyday parenting challenges, so you can give your baby a healthy foundation to grow on?

Then this Resources for Infant Educarers® (RIE) Baby play group and class might be for you! RIE is recognized in the early childhood field as best practice in infant/toddler care.

I'm offering RIE Parent-Infant Guidance Classes this Spring 2023 in Berkeley.

Thursdays, April 6-May 25, 2023

Groups are organized by movement ability and age.

Toddlers (walking confidently) -- Roughly 16-22 months -- 9:30-11 am

Babies who are crawling, standing, or newly walking --  Roughly 10-15 months -- 11:30 am-12:45 pm

Babies who are laying on their backs, turning over and beginning to move -- 4-9 months -- 1:45-3 pm

Babies must be at least 4 months old.

Drawing on Magda Gerber's Educaring® approach and infant/toddler developmental science, in this weekly RIE-certified class, parents will enjoy observing their baby's self-initiated movement, play, and interactions with peers. We'll explore how your baby's brain is built through self-initiated movement and experience, what your baby is learning, and how your attentive & attuned caregiving provides the social-emotional foundation that will carry your child through life. We'll take a capabilities approach to appreciate what your baby is developmentally capable of at the moment, and learn to set age-appropriate expectations and limits respectfully. You'll learn new ways to support your baby's ongoing growth, approach typical issues like sleep, feeding and discipline, and meet the everyday challenges we experience while loving and raising our young children. Parents value that the RIE framework gives you a process to mindfully respond and make decisions that are right for your unique baby and family.
