All Things Tutoring: LGBTQ educator tutoring LGBTQ+ / non-binary students

Kids' Classes, Groups, Teams & Tutors
Teens, Young Adults

As an experienced test prep and academic tutor, coach, curriculum writer, and tutor trainer, I am committed and ready to help your child succeed! I have taught over three hundred students, have worked for large tutoring companies, and am now sharing my knowledge to meet the needs of each individual student. As an LGBTQ+ educator, I also specialize in the needs of LGBTQ+ and non-binary students, as well as for the children of LGBTQ+/non-binary parents.

A graduate of Bowdoin College, I offer compassionate and confidence-boosting test prep and academic support, striving make tutoring as straightforward and successful a process as possible. I teach all the major tests including the SAT, ACT, and PSAT, as well as high school entrance exams like the SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT. I am also an academic educator in Math through Pre-Calculus and Essay writing with students of all grade levels. I have coached students to perfect scores, and, more importantly, major score increases in a supportive environment that builds confidence and skills. Learn more about me here.

All Things Tutoring's test prep sessions are grounded in the three keys:

  • Strategies that guide students through every section
  • Academic content to fill in the gaps
  • Tools to tackle specific question types

Students feel a pressure to produce results that has arguably never been higher – and Covid-19 has altered the playing field. Amidst all this, I view the educator's role as a unique one: I not only offer students my experience, strategic guidance and practical tools but also help them feel seen and heard as a person during this process. This holistic approach reinforces the value of every young person, building on their strengths –  and it produces better results, too. For LGBTQ+ and non-binary students, I bring in specific coaching and mentoring tools unique to their life experience and needs.

We focus on all the things a student can control – the strategies, content, and "ready to face the day" attitude – to keep their attention where it belongs. To better handle test-related stress, I also offer mindful and embodied tools to students, so they can calmly return to their bodies and to focusing on one thing at a time. In this way, students build their confidence and co-create the best possible conditions for their success.
