All Things Tutoring: Holistic, experienced tutor for Test Prep and Academics

Kids' Classes, Groups, Teams & Tutors
Preteens, Teens

I am a leading educator, mentor, curriculum writer, and tutor trainer in the field of test preparation and academic tutoring. Having worked with nearly three hundred students, and with experience at both large tutoring companies and boutique firms, I bring my expertise to meet the needs of each individual student.

A graduate of Bowdoin College, I offer highly personalized test prep and academic support to make tutoring as straightforward and successful a process as possible. I teach the SAT, ACT, PSAT, SAT Subject Tests, ISEE/HSPT/SSAT, and AP tests, as well as academic subjects including writing (for all subjects and grades), college essays, math, and history. I have coached students to perfect scores and major score increases.

Test Prep sessions are grounded in the fundamental test-taking approaches:

  • Strategies that guide students through every section of the SAT and ACT
  • Tools relating to specific question types in each section
  • Content review to fill in knowledge gaps
  • Individualized feedback that builds confidence and skills

Students feel a pressure to produce results that has arguably never been higher – this can be especially true with testing. Amidst all of their responsibilities, I view the tutor's role as a unique one: I not only offer students my expertise, strategic guidance and practical tools but also help them feel seen and heard as a person. A holistic approach to tutoring reinforces the value of every young person and builds on their strengths –  and it produces better results, too.

Focusing on all the things a student can control – the strategies, content, and self-care – brings their attention where it belongs, and away from future unknowns distracting them from the task at hand. To better handle test-related stress, I offer somatic tools to students so they can calmly return to their bodies and back to focusing on one question at a time. In this way, I support students to have the best possible conditions for success.

I find many students get the highest benefit from 8-14 sessions over a few months. However, you are in the driver’s seat, and there is no one size fits all as we decide how to best achieve success for your child. Please contact me to begin tutoring or with any questions you have. Thank you!
