As an experienced teacher, mentor, curriculum writer, and tutor trainer in the field of academic and test prep tutoring, I am committed and ready to help your child succeed! I have worked with nearly three hundred students and counting, at both large tutoring companies and now on my own, sharing my knowledge to meet the needs of each individual student.
A graduate of Bowdoin College, I offer compassionate and confidence-boosting test prep and academic support, striving make tutoring as straightforward and successful a process as possible. I teach all the major tests: SAT, ACT, SSAT/ISEE/HSPT, and several AP subjects. I also provide Academic support in Writing, Reading, Math and History to students of all age levels -- preschool to college. This includes college application essays. I have also coached students to perfect scores, and, more importantly, major score increases. Learn more about me here.
All Test Prep sessions are grounded in the fundamental test-taking approaches:
- Strategies that guide students through every section
- Tools relating to specific question types
- Content review to fill in gaps
- Individualized feedback that builds confidence and skills
Students feel a pressure to produce results that has arguably never been higher – and Covid-19 has altered the playing field. Amidst all this, I view the educator's role as a unique one: I not only offer students my experience, strategic guidance and practical tools but also help them feel seen and heard as a person during this process. This holistic approach reinforces the value of every young person, building on their strengths – and it produces better results, too.
We focus on all the things a student can control – the strategies, content, and self-care – to keep their attention where it belongs, and away from unknowns distracting them from the task at hand. To better handle test-related stress, I also offer mindful and embodied tools to students, so they can calmly return to their bodies and to focusing on one thing at a time. In this way, students build their confidence and co-create the best possible conditions for their success.
There is no one size fits all as we decide how to best achieve success for your child. Please contact me learn more. Thank you!
