Perfectly Whelmed Improv: Summer Camps in El Cerrito and Albany

Improv camps at El Cerrito Community Center will be held the weeks of June 10th, June 24th, July 8th, July 15th and August 5th. Albany camp will be held the week of August 5th. Each camp is 3 hours. Age range is 8-13 for El Cerrito and 9-14 for Albany.

Camp description:

In this camp, participants will be introduced to basic concepts of comedy improvisation such as “yes and” (enthusiastically accepting what is offered), “group mind” (listening to each other and working as a team), and “space object work” (miming objects and environments). Through warm-up exercises and improv “structures”, they will be encouraged to trust their instincts, think on their feet.and support each other. They will also laugh a lot!

Improv is great for building confidence. For those who already are comfortable speaking up in groups, it is also great for encouraging listening and turn-taking.

No previous drama experience is required.
